Community investment raises £160,000 for Lichfield Leisure Centre solar project – final update

Staffordshire Community Energy is pleased to share a final update on the successful community share offer for the solar installation at Lichfield Leisure Centre, following the completion of all legal processes and receipt of investor funds.

As announced on the final day of the share offer, the project reached its initial target of £150,000. We are now delighted to confirm that, once all pledges were processed and the Community Booster Fund contribution applied, the final total raised stands at £160,000.

This includes £132,200 from community investors and a further £27,800 from the Community Booster Fund.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who invested and supported the campaign. This includes many long-standing Staffordshire Community Energy members, as well as new investors from Lichfield and communities across Staffordshire.

Their support demonstrates what can be achieved when local people come together behind a project that delivers cleaner energy, reduces running costs for an important community facility, and creates long-term benefits for the area.

Neil O’Brien, Chair of Staffordshire Community Energy, said:

“I am delighted with the successful fundraise for Lichfield Leisure Centre. I would like to give a huge vote of thanks to all the team who helped get this project through planning, preparation and build.

“We look forward to the solar panels providing green, cost-effective energy for decades to come. We thank our members, both new and longstanding, for their confidence in and support for our plans.”

The solar panels are already installed and generating electricity, helping Lichfield Leisure Centre benefit from cleaner, locally generated energy.

This project is a powerful example of Power with Purpose: local investment supporting renewable energy while creating practical and lasting value for the wider community.

Thank you to everyone who invested, supported and shared the campaign. This achievement belongs to the whole SCE community.
