Staffordshire Energetic Communities is a community energy planning project helping local people explore practical ways to reduce energy costs, improve homes and buildings and keep the benefits of clean energy within their communities.

The project is starting by working with seven communities across Staffordshire: Boney Hay & Central, Chadsmoor, Chesterton, Highfields & Western Downs, Kinver, Leek North and Stapenhill. Through an initial review process, these areas will be explored in detail before being narrowed down to four locations that will go on to develop full Community Energy Plans.

Through a series of local working group sessions, residents, community groups, clubs, organisations and partners are coming together to look at what life is like in their area, what energy challenges people are facing and what opportunities could make a real difference locally.

The four selected areas will use these conversations to create Community Energy Plans. These are locally developed roadmaps for action, bringing together local knowledge, community priorities and practical energy opportunities into one clear plan.

Each plan will set out actions that could help the area reduce energy use, lower bills, support people in vulnerable situations and explore future clean energy projects.

The project is using the Energy Futures Toolkit as a framework to guide this process, helping communities take a structured, practical approach to understanding their energy needs and identifying solutions. You can find out more about the toolkit HERE.

The project is funded by the Just Transition Fund, part of the Ofgem Energy Redress Scheme, and is delivered by Staffordshire Community Energy in partnership with Support Staffordshire.

At its heart, Staffordshire Energetic Communities is about local power for local people, helping communities reduce costs, tackle fuel poverty, cut carbon and shape cleaner energy solutions that work for their area.
